Was it you (Rhys) that posted this site on Guardian gamesblog? That's a place where you can normally have a fairly sensible discussion about gaming (rare), but this whole PS4 vs Xb-one is killing sensible conversation (much like it did a few years ago 360/Ps3). It's like Microsoft just announced a policy of eating babies. I cannot believe the uproar, though I understand some concerns, I just don't think that any of it is as major as it's being made out to be. 

It's the journalism that's pissing me off - I expect gamers in forums to be 70% douche 30% dude, but the journalism at the moment is mostly negative towards the ONE, and it's really getting in the way of informed commentary. It can't be all negative. On a brighter side it seems the SDF is going to maintain its position of having the monopoly on douchery.

Yes it was me and I completely agree - yes it's going to be interesting - no more games on ebay for example, but like pointed out elsewhere- it's like steam and OnLive - both of them great platforms - people are getting upset about the transition away from discs, but I'm sure they will come around eventually.

I still think Microsoft need to come back with a big blow of their own. My hope is that the digital future will bring about the kind of amazing deals you see on Steam, but that's a mid-to-long-term goal. They need to say something now that will swing the coverage at least to a more neutral stance. I never even flinched in my decision, and there will be a lot of others like me, but you can't deny that Sony won E3 by effectively standing still. MS on the other hand have taken brickbats for having a future vision, but I think a lot of people will want to know that they're not being forced into a future that they don't understand/want. Gamers who pride themselves on being in touch with futuristic tech and innovation in gaming have shown themselves to be incredibly conservative on the future of gaming.
